Wilmer Valderrama opens up about Demi Lovato

Demi Lovato and Wilmer Valderrama, though they never officially confirmed it, were once romantically involved, and are rumored to be back on. The former That 70s Show actor, who says he and Demi are just good friends now, opened up to Perez Hilton about their relationship, which was during the time of her personal troubles.

It wasnt even like that, Valderrama, 32, responded when Perez Hilton asked him why a 31-year-old would be dating a 19-year-old. It was a real interesting time for her. We were really just best friends.

Wilmer adds that seeing Demi, who most recently performed on American Idol, overcome her personal troubles has made him proud.

She's amazing, she's a great human being. I'm so proud of her considering all of the different obstacles and everything she's been through, he said. I mean, she's got a pretty good head [on her shoulders]. Like I obviously like she said, it's going to be a struggle every day. But I was very proud to be there for her when she needed me, and she was there for me a number of times, too.

We have a great friendship, he added. Shes definitely someone really special to me.

Wilmer has managed to keep friendly relationships with some of his other exes, which include Mandy Moore. According to PopCrush, hes also gotten close with Demis ex, Joe Jonas, but he doesnt have a problem with the fact that Joe once dated Demi.

Hes a really cool guy. Hes my bro, Valderrama said. Theres absolutely nothing weird about embracing someone who has some history thats intertwined with yours.
