Demi Lovato has announced a break from Twitter after she blasted gossip sites for reading too much into her recent posts on friendship.

It all started when the X Factor USA judge posted some cryptic messages yesterday (January 3) alluding to some friendship problems:

"P.S. Only surround yourself with people who you CAN communicate with. Trust is a bond between TWO people that is found ONLY when they are ..."

"are able to listen/understand where the other person is coming from. That to me, is the key to friendships/ relationships. "

Seems innocent enought but some commentators were soon linking the tweets to Demi's on/off boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama with Perez Hilton writing: "it looks like trouble in paradise once again for on-off couple Demi Lovato and Wilmer Valderrama!"

"Today, Demi had a very public meltdown on Twitter about relationships, communication, and trust and it sounds like the rant could be easily directed at Wilmer!"

Demi clearly took offence to comments like these on her twitter activity as she posted earlier today:

The tweets were soon attracting thousands of RT's as fans begged Demi not to leave the social networking site.
