Miley Cyrus and Other Celebrities Being Criticized for Their Curves
There seems to be a positive new trend taking hold in Hollywood -- young celebs like Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato are embracing their bodies instead of starving themselves to be skinny. However, not everyone is impressed with the celebrities that have decided to keep their curves.
Some of Miley's critics have posted videos on YouTube poking fun at her weight, including one way over exaggerating her curvier figure by claiming that she's now 213 pounds.
But the singer isn't letting the fat attacks slide. She took to Twitter to fight back against her haters by posting a photo of a disturbingly skinny woman along with this message: "By calling girls like me fat, this is what you're doing to other people."
Miley also used one of the biggest sex symbols in the world to help make her argument - Marilyn Monroe. She posted a photo of the actress in a bikini with this caption: "Proof that you can be adored by thousands of men even when your thighs touch."
But she isn't alone in her battle to embrace being a normal weight - her Disney pal Demi also came to her defense by threatening to "destroy" anyone that calls her the "F word."
Demi knows how difficult it can be to go up a few dress sizes with the whole world witnessing the weight gain. After battling an eating disorder, she's managed to get her body back to a healthy weight while dropping her insecurities about her body. However, she had to take on a few haters after the MTV VMAs e! arlier t his year. Demi used logic to shut down those criticizing her for packing on a few extra pounds by posting this message on Twitter: "That's what happens when you get out of treatment for AN EATING DISORDER." Demi has also proved to her detractors that she's healthy and happy by making a major career comeback after getting her life (and her diet) back on track. Her rekindled flame Wilmer Valderrama certainly doesn't seem to mind her womanly curves, and Miley has also been lucky in love -- "The Hunger Games" star Liam Hemsworth says that he thinks his girlfriend is the sexiest when "there is some steak sauce dripping down her chin."
But unfortunately these young stars aren't the only ones being bullied because of their weight. Some of Lady Gaga's little monsters turned into real monsters after Adele received more MTV VMA nominations than her. One feisty fan seemed to really take it personally, launching this low blow at the "Rolling in the Deep" singer: "CONFIRMED: Gaga will not be wearing the meat dress at the 2011 VMA's because she is afraid Adele will eat her." Ouch. Luckily Mama Monster has shown nothing but love for her fellow songstress, so hopefully her fans will follow suit.
Poor Jessica Simpson's weight has also been giving her grief - it seems like people speculated that she was pregnant for years before she actually got knocked up. But Jess wants everyone to know that she has no problem being a little larger than she was back in her Daisy Duke days - in fact, she's said that her weight gain has been "great for branding" because more women can relate to her (obviously it's been working out rather well for her considering how big her fashion empire has become).
Jessica's fellow teen pop princess Christina Aguilera has also experienced her fair share of fat jokes, but one of her biggest critics is a fellow celeb. Kelly Osbourne obviously is not a fan of Christina's - she's criticized the star twice on her E! show "Fashion Police," once calling her a "fat bitch" and later claiming that she was! "never that fat" during her heavier days. Kelly might have a very valid reason to dislike Christina, put maybe she should call her out on something other than her weight - after all, she knows how badly it can hurt to be branded as "fat," and she might be alienating some of her fans by using weight gain as an insult.
Perhaps all these lovely ladies should adopt Christina's "Beautiful" as their theme song, because as hard as their haters try, their words just can't seem to bring them down.
