Demi Lovato Considered Quitting Music After Personal Struggles
Demi Lovato has admitted that she considered quitting music altogether after her personal struggles with self-harming, bipolar disorder and an eating disorder forced her to spend Christmas 2010 in a treatment facility.
The American starlet, who released her new single 'Skyscraper' in the UK this week, told Metro that the pressure on her almost became too much.
"I thought: Im exhausted, people dont understand and so many people are being negative towards me," she told Metro. "Its hard. There are so many pressures that are put on to you when youre in this industry.
"But I love doing it, I love singing, I dont want to give that up just because the going gets tough."
She also confessed to Googling herself to gauge public reaction to her appearance and her music.
"I like to see if my shoes went with the dress on the red carpet or how my hair looked at an event," she explained. "You want to see how people react to your new video or songs. You need to see what your fans like; you need to know what they think and you have to go on the internet to see that.
"That doesnt mean everyone has the right to say whatever they want on the internet. You just need to develop a selective ear and be able to see people are just being a hater for the sake of it."
'Skyscraper' is out now and her new album Unbroken is out on Monday March 5.
