Demi Lovato On Course For Biggest UK Hit To Date

Honesty is clearly the best policy for Demi Lovato - 'Skyscraper', the song she recorded as a reflection of her personal struggles, will become her biggest UK hit single to date if it can hold on to its midweek chart position until Sunday.

However, its current ranking at No. 26 is still a far cry from the peaks achieved by her former Disney colleagues Selena Gomez and Miley Cyrus, according to The Official Charts Company.

Gomez managed to peak at No. 7 with 'Naturally' in 2010 and, whilst she has surprisingly never hit the Top 10 over here, Cyrus has scored three No. 11 singles with 'The Climb', 'See You Again' and 'Party In The USA'.

Lovato's new single was released in the US last summer and reached No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 - her biggest single over there since 'Camp Rock' tune 'This Is Me'.

That same song from the cheese-fest TV movie is also currently her highest-charting song in the UK. It made it as far as No. 33 in 2008.

Yesterday she told Metro that she nearly abandoned her career after checking into rehab to deal with self-harming, bipolar and an eating disorder. "I thought: Im exhausted, people dont understand and so many people are being negative! towards me," she said. "Its hard. There are so many pressures that are put on to you when youre in this industry.

"But I love doing it, I love singing, I dont want to give that up just because the going gets tough."

Thank goodness she didn't!
