Demi Lovato Gives Malaysia Heart Attack
AMERICAN pop star Demi Lovato captured the hearts of her fans, also known as Lovatics, at the Twin Towers Alive concert at KLCC last Friday.
Demi is of half Mexican ancestry, and also has Irish and Italian roots.
She was raised in Dallas and is best friends with another American pop star, Selena Gomez since they both starred in Barney & Friends together.
Never mind that these fans had to wait a torturous seven hours to finally see her on the stage. To many, it was a worthwhile wait.
Oh yes before that, the audience had to go through a painful 45 minutes of music spun by the DJ. Earlier there was this an hour and half of fashion show when it started raining!
They were chanting DEMI! DEMI! over and over again to display their disapproval then.
Demis appearance, which lasted for about an hour, surely mesmerized the fans who were already restless with the waiting.
At the end of the concert, several fans were limping out of the venue, perhaps due to the fact that they had been standing for hours.
Demi came out with screams and shouts from the crowd.
The 20-year-old, whose full name is Demetria Devonne Lovato, touched down in Malaysia last Thursday.
She started her set with a song from her album Unbroken, which has the same name. The rest of the set of songs would be a compilation of her songs from her three albums.
A few songs with catchy beats were included like Get Back, Remember December, Here We Go Again and the set also included a cover of Chris Browns hit song, Turn Up the Music. She even performed her new single, Heart Attack on stage.
Demi, her first show in Malaysia, even played guitar for some ballads like Dont Forget a! nd Catch Me.
Through these songs, the audience could hear the tenderness in her voice and feel the emotions she put in them.
Before belting out Skyscraper on the piano, she even gave an amazing and emotional speech to tell everyone, if they are struggling against eating disorder, bullying, self-harming or depression, that they are worth saving and they are worth life.
Rehab
Demi went to rehab in 2010 for self-harming and depression after punching a dancer during a Jonas Brothers tour.
She took full responsibility for punching the dancer and admitted to having a problem and checked herself into the rehab.
She ended the song with tears in her eyes. As an encore, she sang Give Your Heart a Break before leaving the stage to end her memorable show.
But one thing that was dissatisfying though was that the bass was too loud. The deafening bass made it almost impossible to listen to Demis fantastic vocal talent with the obsessed crowd singing along with her.
To the Lovatics, seeing their idol up close and hearing her sing was enough to make them forget about the rain and the long wait.
For some, even though Demi was amazing, they wish that they didnt have to wait so long for their idol to come on stage, with a lack of water and feeling tired.
The scene was like a real Hunger Games when people started to fight for water while waiting for Demi.
But then again, it was Demi on the stage.
