Things didn't work out so well for her fellow celebrity after Britney Spears made rather a dramatic exit from the X Factor USA judging panel earlier this year - but Demi Lovato is going from strength to strength on the show!

Because not only is she reportedly set to return to the panel alongside Simon Cowell and whoever will be replacing Miss Spears and L.A. Reid, who also abandoned his post, but she will also apparently be joining forces with girl-group finalists Fifth Harmony, who were mentored by Cowell.

The singer has locked in her return to the show for its third series which starts in the autumn, according to sources close to the show.

According to HollywoodLife.com, Demi, 20, will most likely sing on one of Fifth Harmony's singles - and possibly share the X Factor stage with them for a live performance.

Back in December, Demi told the website that she was very open to the idea of collaborating with the girls and said: "I am always open to collaborations, and I would like to show these girls a Thank you, and show them how much they have done for me."

Fifth Harmony - who came second to winner Tate Stevens - signed a joint record deal ! with Syco Music and Epic Records in January and hit the studio last month to record their debut album.

And a source close to the girls said they want to be just like the Spice Girls: "Its going to be a fun pop album the likes of Spice Girls and early Destinys Child,.

"Its going to have a fun flavor of radio-friendly hits and ballads, because they really want to live by their name."

Last Friday, Demi debuted the lyric video for her new single, "Heart Attack," via an interactive online campaign where fans could unlock the clip by tweeting the song's lyrics along with the hashtag #UnlockHeartAttack.

This came after the audio version was released earlier in the week and the song subsequently scored the No1 spot on the iTunes charts in nine countries.
