Demi Lovato speaks about bullying
Hollywood singer-actress Demi Lovato encourages everyone to reach out to victims and be aware on how serious bullying is.
Before her one-night concert at the Big Dome on Wednesday night, March 20, the Camp Rock star and The X Factor judge met the Philippine press where she talked about her music, acting career plan, as well as her experience as a bullying victim.
When I was growing up, I was bullied. I actually left public school because of it and it scarred me really bad. Since I've been able to speak about issues that are close to my heart, I've spoken out about bullying to let everyone know how serious of an issue it is, because it can change somebody's life and it affects them, Demi said during the press conference held in Gateway Suites on Wednesday, March 20.
Demi is an inspiration to many young girls and boys, so she speaks about the issue as much as possible to advice them that bullying is not okay.
And if you are being bullied, get help. And to reach out to somebody, just so people are aware of it, and that it's not okay to do, she said.
At age 20, Demi has already achieved many things, including her numerous Teen Choice and MTV awards. She also starred in the hit Disney television film Camp Rock. Her songs Give Your Heart a Break and Skyscraper also earned her recognitions.
My advice would just be to work as hard as you can, practice makes perfect. As long as you do all you can to get there, then you can make it, she advised.
Demis fans might not see her on TV or movies in the near future, as she chooses to focus more on her music for now.
I've had my share of TV work. With acting, its not really something that's dear to my heart compared to music right now. For me, it works best that I pour all my energy on one, rather than doing everything at once. So, I just focus on music, she said.
Demi is more than thrilled to meet her Filipino fans for the first time.
It feels really, really great. I talk to my parents at home and the ti! me difference is really crazy. Realizing that Im on the other side of the world and I still have fans is really insane and amazing. Its something I cant really fathom. Its an incredible feeling so Im excited to say hi to my fans whom Ive never seen before, she said.
