Demi Lovato set for US X Factor?

Demi Lovato is reportedly close to signing a deal to be one of the judges on US X Factor.

Sources say the 19-year-old actress and singer is in final negotiations about taking a seat on the panel of Simon Cowell's programme, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

It's thought show bosses believe the former Disney star would bring a younger audience to the TV talent show.

If the rumours are true, Demi - who sought treatment in 2010 as she was battling bulimia and bipolar disorder - could be joining fellow pop babe Britney Spears, who is also tipped for a judging slot.

Simon and music executive LA Reid are already confirmed for the panel, but two spots were left after Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul were axed following the show's first season.

Since Nicole and Paula got the chop several big name stars have been tipped to replace them, including Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson and Beyonce.
