Psychiatrist explains why Demi Lovato, Justin Bieber are obsesses with haters

When it comes to the stars, Demi Lovato and Justin Bieber for example, keeping haters in check can often times become a second job. But Harvard psychiatrist John Sharp says theres a science behind it.

E! News reports that X Factor judge Lovato is known for lashing out at negative commenters on Twitter is a common occurrence and just last weekend at the American Music Awards, the Biebs said in his acceptance speech:

I want to say this for all the haters who thought I was just here for one or two years. I feel like Im going to be here for a very long time.

Sharp reveals that one reason for the fixation on negative energy is narcissism.

I see insulation that often borders on isolation, alternating with great sensitivity and a strong, sometimes narcissistic desire to be loved, Sharp said. When this balance is struck in a healthy way, celebs can protect themselves from every possible critique. However, when this balance is off, celebs may become either out of touch on the one hand, or overly touchy on the other. The latter is probably what we are seeing here.

What Sharps revelation means is that 'hating on haters' isnt a typical behavior of stars. If it were, our favorite celebrities would be posting hate messages every day. But when it does occur, that may mean Lovato, Bieber, or whoever else, is dealing with an event in their l! ives, which makes them feel more vulnerable.

Sharp added, Justin is having a tough time these days with his on-again, off-again relationship with Selena Gomez. Hes admitted to being confused, so haters are getting to him more at this time of self-doubt.
