Demi Lovato: Every song is meaningful

Demi Lovato says every single one of her songs is "personal" and has a "special meaning".

The singer was talking about her latest album Unbroken and revealed that the title refers to how she feels now that she has overcome her personal issues.

The former Disney star famously entered rehab in October 2010 to treat physical and emotional issues and later confirmed she had been suffering from bulimia and self-injury.

Some of the songs on Unbroken were recorded in the lead-up to this difficult period and production had to be interrupted for three months, resulting in a lot of Demi's issues being channelled through the tracks.

"I feel that life is a journey with lots of ups and downs but I am still here, unbroken. Every song is personal and has a special meaning to me. Look at Skyscraper. That was very difficult for me to record. It was a cry for help," she told the UK edition of OK! magazine.

Demi feels blessed she managed to overcome her issues.

The 19-year-old is glad she made mistakes and has learnt from her wrongdoings.

"I am very grateful because I came out all right. Not everybody is that lucky," she said.
