Image
Have you ever wondered what the "X-Factor" judges think of themselves when looking out at competitive reality talent shows, such as "American Idol"? Simon & L.A. Cover Billboard BUY A COPY | READ IT | SUBSCRIBE L. A. Reid says "X-Factor" is "better because of the cast." "The fact that we have two super stars in Demi Lovato and Britney Spears and then two truly accomplished record executives in Simon Cowell and myself. We really do know what we're doing," Reid told Billboard editorial director Bill Werde backstage at last week's Billboard Film & TV Music Conference in LA. Reid, joined by his X-Factor co-star, Demi Lovato, continued to say that ! he hopes to keep the cast as it is "going forward." "I'm actually very hopeful that X-Factor keeps the same panel going forward. I think that we actually suffer a little but for not having that consistency in our panel," he said. Lovato chimed in to

Demi Lovato enjoys putting 'X Factor' co-star Simon Cowell 'in his place'

Part of Demi Lovatos role on X Factor that she loves is messing with fellow judge Simon Cowell. Lovato, 19, shares the panel with Cowell, Britney Spears and L.A. Reid, having replaced Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul with Spears this season. "I love messing with him," Lovato told Us Weekly of Cowell. "He's really funny and I have a lot of fun working with him. But someone has to put him in his place. I mean -- you can't come to the United States from England and make fun of all of us! I have to stand up for my country." X Factor s live shows will begin on Wednesday, having been moved up from Thursday. MTV News notes the reason for that is because the World Series ended earlier than expected. The live shows will be the first glimpse we get of the new judges, Extra host Mario Lopez and Keeping Up with the Kardashians star Khloe Kardashian, who are replacing last seasons Steve Jones. The top 16 acts have made it to the live shows, split into 4 groups tha

X Factor USA's Demi Lovato 'Loves Messing' With Simon Cowell

Image
WENN As the start of the X Factor USA live shows edges closer, judge Demi Lovato has spoken of her relationship with head judge Simon Cowell and revealed that she "loves messing" with him. The duo's sparring became one of our favourite moments on the show during the auditions earlier this year. Speaking about Simon, Us Weekly reported Demi as saying: "I love messing with him. He's really funny and I have a lot of fun working with him. But someone has to put him in his place. I mean you can't come to the United States from England and make fun of all of us! I have to stand up for my country." The star also spoke of her music commitments, explaining what she wants her next album to sound like. She added: "I'm bringing the sound of real music back. I think Adele does a great job they are catchy pop songs, but it's real music and there are instruments. I want to bring a lot of that back. "There's going to be some fun, light-hearted

Demi Lovato on why she loves 'messing' with Simon Cowell and how she's not like Katy Perry

When we met up with Demi Lovato in New York City earlier this month, we had no idea what she'd look like when we arrived. Of course we're very familiar with her work and love watching her sass it up to Simon Cowell on "The X Factor" but she's become such a hair chameleon this year we weren't sure we'd recognize her. We quickly discovered the 20-year-old is going through a blond phase with bangs, no extensions when we were brought in to meet her as she sat barefoot curled up on a couch. "It's crazy," Lovato tells omg! about life as a blonde. "I never ever thought that I would go blond, but I'm having fun with it." As for the bangs, I just feel like myself again. It reminds me of being 15 again when I was doing 'Camp Rock.' I don't know how long I'll keep them, but for the meantime it just makes me feel like myself." After a difficult few years, which included a much publicized stint in rehab for emotiona

Demi Lovato & L.A. Reid Video Q&A: 'X Factor' Judges Talk Simon, TV and Shunning the 'Sexy Route'

Demi Lovato didn't pull any punches when the "desert island question" was popped at last week's Billboard Film & TV Music Conference in L.A., choosing Britney Spears over fellow "X Factor" judge Simon Cowell. "Simon would be the biggest diva on the fricking island," she jokingly jabbed. "And he'd die within a couple years anyway because he's so old. I mean, he's only got a couple years left in him anyway, so" Joined by her "X Factor" co-star L.A. Reid in a chat with Billboard editorial director Bill Werde, the "Give Your Heart a Break" singer opened up about her journey from Disney kid to a bonafide pop star. "I don't know how I did it, honestly. I'm open with issues, which makes me relatable," she said. "I never did the whole sexy route. I just don't feel comfortable onstage in risque clothes." While discussing their show, Lovato and Reid offered some advice to future co

Demi Lovato: Fame is bittersweet

Image
Demi Lovato, since going public with her personal issues, has helped many of her young fans get help for themselves, and has become a role model for some young fans. Demi has her celebrity status to thank for that, but like many celebrities, fame is bittersweet for Demi. INF DAILY The singer, actress and X Factor judge says fame is helpful and hurtful. "Just as much as it sucks to have tabloids writing about you, at the same time I had all these issues and I was able to raise awareness because I came out publicly with those issues and then I have tons of fans that come up and tell me, 'Oh, I got help with my eating disorder or this because you came out and said it,' " Lovato, said, according to People . "Had it not been for the publicity and the tabloids or whatever it was, they may not have had a chance to save their own lives." Things are significantly better for Lovato since leaving treatment and going public in early 2011. When it comes to her celebrity

Demi Lovato Engaged? Rumour Denied Following Mystery Ring Speculation

Image
WENN Demi Lovato has become the centre of engagement speculation, following sightings of a mystery ring on her finger during a performance yesterday. The star performed the National Anthem at the World Series last night, prompting a flurry of discussion online. HollywoodLife suggested that Wilmer Valderrama is the lucky man, but a rep for the X Factor judge has insisted the report is "not true". Lovato's love life has always been subject to much scrutiny, particularly in recent weeks when she's been linked to One Direction's Niall Horan. Both she and the boyband member have denied they are dating, and he has also now flattened reports that he is seeing drama student Amy Green. Watch Demi at the World Series below. Demi Lovato sang the National Anthem at World Series VIDEO

Demi Lovatosang the National Anthem during Game 4 of the World Series yesterday before the San Francisco Giants swept the Detroit Tigers. The pop star displayed impressive vocal range, but didnt quite possess an X factor. Smooth at times and pitchy at others, she definitely didnt hit it out of the ballpark this time around. Her rendition of the song was much more memorable during Game 5 of last years World Series. Lovato followed in the footsteps of American Idol s Phillip Phillips , Glee s Matthew Morrison , and New Girl s Zooey Deschanel , who set the bar high during their respective World Series performances last week by bringing their own unique flare to the anthem. Home Demi Lovato Demi Lovato Sings National Anthem At World Demi Lovato hit a home run with her rendition of The Star Spangled Banner during game 4 of the world series on Oct. 28, featuring the Detroit Tigers and the San Francisco Giants. Do YOU agree? Demi Lovato is no stranger to FOX. As a judge on The X Factor , its no wonder she was invited to perform the national anthem at game 4 of the World Series on Oct. 28 (theyre both featured on the same network). If Demis performance was an audition for The X Factor , we could definitely see her going through to the live shows! She stayed true to the song, but added her own flare here and there the markings of a true star! Without trying to overdo the usage of puns, wed say her performance was a grand slam! Demi Lovato Sings National Anthem on Game 4 of World Series

October 29, 2012 03:35:20 GMT Watch as the 'X Factor' judge 'did just fine' when she performed the ever so dreadful task of singing the national anthem during the Sunday, October 28 game. During game 4 of the World Series held October 28, singer-actress faced thousands of baseball fans as she smoothly went through her rendition of the national anthem. While being excited about her performance, it was also undeniable that the 20-year-old musician had a lot of critical eyes staring at her since the anthem has always been a tough one for pop stars to sing and for American fans to watch. The "" judge wrote on her Twitter account earlier, "So excited to sing the National Anthem at game 4 of the World Series tonight!!!!!" and was then seen sporting a very casual all-black ensemble made up of tight leggings, a black graphic tee with a blazer and high-heeled boots. Though wearing casual attire, there was nothing plain and simple with the singer-songwriter&#

'X Factor's' Britney Spears and Demi Lovato Stump For Votes in New Campaign (Video)

The fight for the hearts and minds of X Factor voters continues, as judges Britney Spears and Demi Lovato each released separate political advertisements in response to Simon Cowell 's bold claim that he's the "Best. Judge. Ever." Spears' ad lambasts Lovato, Cowell and L.A. Reid 's taste in music as "old" and "lame," while proclaiming she is "Right With Music!" and "Right With America!" ("America's Sweetheart," in fact.) PHOTO: 'X Factor' Season 2: Meet the Contestants Plus, she apparently still carries a torch for departed contestant, rapper Nick Youngerman (Spears is shown boogying to Youngerman's version of "Ice, Ice Baby" by Vanilla Ice as an example of her musical superiority). Lovato, ever the shrewd politician, goes for the jugular, attacking Cowell's memory problems, Reid's age, and Spears' "facial expressions." The self-proclaimed "super cool ch

The X Factor recap: Simon Cowell and Demi Lovato pick their teams

Can a leopard, or rather a leopard-faced woman, change its spots? I guess were going to find out, because CeCe Frey grabbed a spot on Demi Lovatos X Factor team that I think should have been Jillian Jensens. I suppose I should have seen it coming when we saw a clip of Jillian telling roomie Jennel Garcia she didnt picture either of them going home. Displays of contestant confidence are usually a kiss of death. And so Jillian was dispatched, sobbing uncontrollably, first on Lovato, then on Jennel, then on fellow reject Nick Youngerman. And were left with CeCe, she of the spotted face and the CeCe thunder, who has stuck in my craw since her first audition and whom even Lovato has admitted can be unlikeable. Ugh. Tuesdays episode was a makeup for a show cut short by a late baseball game last week. We had already watched Britney Spears and L.A. Reid pick their teams and were reminded of their choices off the top: Carly Rose Sonenclar, Beatrice Miller, Arin Ray and Diamond White for Spears

Picking up where we left off before baseball ruined everything, Demi Lovato had just told Willie Jones and Jennel Garcia the good news that they both made it through to the live shows on The X Factor . Up next, rapper Nick Youngerman whose performance wasnt all that memorable was sent packing to the shock of well, no one. I dont wanna be known as the rapping toilet cleaner for the rest of my life, he said. (Yikes! Poor kid.) Rihanna look-alike Paige Thomas was up next, and as they played California King Bed, I noticed Paige even had the same stars inked on her neck as RiRi! Im afraid shes going to have to differentiate herself if she wants to make an impression, but nevertheless, shes a total sweetheart and I was happy Demi told her she made it. Then came the hard part: It came down to my favorite, Jillian Je
