Demi Lovato Vows to Work with Fifth Harmony Post-'X Factor'
"The X Factor" has set a lineup of duets for its final episodes this week, with Tate Stevens singing with Little Big Town, Carly Rose Sonenclar hooking up with LeAnn Rimes and girl group Fifth Harmony joining forces with one of the mentors, Demi Lovato.
The teen quintet has already clicked with a Lovato hit, "Give Your Heart a Break," and it's likely their partnership will extend beyond the show.
"I'm always open to collaborations," Lovato said at an "X Factor" press conference on Monday afternoon. "I'd (work with) these girls to say thank you to them for things they've done for me."
The key selling point? "They're such sweet, down-to-earth girls," Lovato said.
Other than that, the press conference to hype the finals - Fox airs them Wednesday and Thursday - contained little information and minimal discussion from Lovato and her fellow mentors, L.A. Reid, who announced this week he would not return next season, and Britney Spears. Simon Cowell did most of the talking, defending the ratings dip as evidence there are too many talent shows on television and hoping that the three finalists and the group eliminated last week, Emblem 3, receive recording contracts.
Naturally, it would not be standard-issue Cowell if he did not get in an extra-large plug for his act. Despite Fifth Harmony! coming together during the audition process, he says, "the girls are a viable pop group in the vein of One Direction."
