Demi Lovato lashes out at Disney for eating disorder joke

Demi Lovato is healthy and beautiful, and she wants Disney Channel viewers to have the same renewed self-esteem she has.

Which is why, according to Wonderwall, she lashed out at the network for an eating disorder joke it aired in one of its shows.

The website reported Lovato was watching an episode of Shake It Up when a character on the show joked, "I could just eat you up, well, if I ate.

People reported the 19-year-old then took to her Twitter to voice her disapproval.

"What are we promoting here? #notfunnyATALL," she tweeted on Friday.

"I find it really funny how a company can lose one of their actress' from the pressures of an EATING DISORDER and yet still make [a] joke about [it]."

Lovatos former employee then responded, telling the Camp Rock star that they would no longer air the episode, along with an episode of So Random! that also pokes fun of the issue.

"It's NEVER our intention to make light of eating disorders!" @DisneyChanelPR wrote.

Lovato then thanked Disney for its attempts at bettering the situation, but also commented on how the networks actresses seem to be getting THINNER AND THINNER compared to the days of Raven-Symon and Hilary Duff.

Ever since she checked into rehab last year for her struggles with eating disorders and cutting, Lovato has been a strong advocate for victims of the disease.

Earlier this month she returned to the facility in Illinois to speak with people still in rehab about her journey.
