Lady Gaga, Demi Lovato, Rihanna And More Make Our 5 Favorite New Year's Eve Dresses

The idea of staying up with your closest friends and loved ones until (or ACHEM too long past...anyone else STILL super tired and broken? *raises hand feebly*) the stroke of midnight to ring in the new year is so fecund with glamour and anticipation and sparkle magic jubilee that New Year's Eve is one of those holidays that DEMANDS a fabulous outfit to properly celebrate it. It's just something that will always be true no matter how many eons pass. As always, a few of our favorite fashionistas took the idea to heart, breaking out their glitziest outfits for the occasion. From Lady Gaga's slinky silver gown to Rihanna's chic sheer overlayed frock, here are our five favorite gowns from the grand kick-off of the new year.

LADY GAGA

Lady Gaga was a vision of updated glamour in a silver floor-length satin dress. The gown featured a figure-flattering boned bodice draped with fringe (very roaring '20s meets 18th century burlesque) and an hourglass silhouette. Mother Monster sparkled as bright as the Times Square ball with an inspired circular masked headdress, embellished gloves, and a web of rhinestone roping used to accentuate the gown's lines.

DEMI LOVATO

Demi Lovato's cascade of red curls found a perfect backdrop in this black knee-length bodycon. Opting against the usual New Year's metallics, Demi wore a long-sleeved frock with a lace overlay and plunging neckline nearly rivalling that infamous Roland Mouret gown she wore to last year's Latin Grammy Awards.

FLORENCE WELCH

Florence Welch did not disappoint in this black and gold fringed Gucci gown she wore performing on Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve. Paired with her soft scarlet waves, Florence's NYE stage look is enchantingly Prohibition chic.

RIHANNA

Rihanna attended Sean "Diddy" Combs's New Year's Eve party in Miami looking surprisingly normie in this full-skirted Tom Ford. The al! most ani mal print sheer overlay is appropriately stealth-sexy (though, this IS a girl who spends the majority of her time on stage in little more than you wear to the beach). We love how the keyhole keeps the potentially fussy long sleeves and full skirt in check, and her bold red lip + piled high curls are girlish and sweet.

NICKI MINAJ

Nicki Minaj's notoriously kooky stage style did not take a vacation this New Year's Eve. Barb wore a silver lam galactic ensemble complete with a cape emblazoned with a metallic solar system model that would rival any American 5th grade class's teacher's pet. No better way to ring in the future, AMIRITE?
