E! Online reveals that the 20-year-old pop star has ganged up for good with Secret to help girls stand up against bullying.

According to People Magazine, Lovato has had her own past filled with bullying and torment. In fact, she spent time in rehab to overcome an eating disorder and cutting nearly two years ago.

"I had a really tough time when I was in middle school. People would write 'hate petitions' [about me] and send them around to be signed. They'd have CD-bashing parties of my demos. They'd come to my house, stand across the street and yell things. It was a very emotional time for me, and all I wanted to do was get away."

Fortunately, the Give Your Heart a Break singer did not succumb to the negative forces in her life, and now she is using her celebrity status to help other girls in the same situation.

"I heard about the program last year, and thought it was such a great opportunity," Lovato says. "They're really trying to put an end to bullying."

Lovato tweeted earlier today about her excitement about the campaign.

So excited to be Secret's new @meanstinks ambassador!!!

To promote their cause, Secret has ! pledged to donate $1 from every purchase of their new clinical strength deodorant, Fearlessly Fresh, to the organization.
