Niall Horan Smothers Demi Lovato Rumors

Demi Lovato has shot down rumors she's dating One Direction singer Niall Horan on multiple occasions, including during the season premiere of the "X Factor." And now Horan is also letting the world know that he is just friends with Lovato.

"I try to go and see my friends but that's easier to do than go out with a girlfriend. I couldn't be bothered, and it's pure laziness on my part," he said in an interview with the Daily Mirror in the U.K. "Traveling around the world and all the promo that we do it doesn't leave time for a girlfriend. It really doesn't. Demi is really cool and we're really good friends."

Earlier this week, she echoed his statement in her own denial and maybe all the disclaimers will put the rumors to rest. "There is nothing going on. Niall's my friend," she said while doing press for "X Factor." "I'm really happy for One Direction and the success that they've had. It just goes to show you how crazy this competition is to making stars and the success that they have. He's a good friend of mine."

Horan (who celebrated his 19th birthday just this week) doesn't just have a friend in Lovato, but also in Justin Bieber, who he tweeted about hanging out with in London earlier this week.

"Every day I wake up and think is this all a dream. It's just impossible to believe I've become good friends with some stars like Justin Bieber. I would call Justin a friend, someone I hang out with," he said in the interview. "It's really weird. I was on Skype to my friend the other night and Justin was with me. My frie! nds were loving it."

The Bieber/One Direction bromance kicked off earlier this year, when they all hit the studio together. It led many fans to hope that they'd be working on some music together, but the guys denied it to MTV News this past spring, sharing no "real collaboration" came of the hangout session. Rumors once again popped up that Bieber might appear on their sophomore album, Up All Night, but those rumors also turned out to be untrue.
