Demi Lovato Promises 'Tons of Drama' On 'X Factor'
It wouldn't be a Simon Cowell joint without some serious drama. Which is why when MTV News asked 2012 MTV VMA pre-show performer Demi Lovato what fans of "X Factor" can expect when she and fellow newbie judge Britney Spears take their spots on Wednesday night's season two premiere, she promised some serious fireworks.
"I think people are really gonna like it. It's really funny," said Lovato, who joined Cowell and music industry veteran L.A. Reid on the reality music competition's judge's panel following the ousting of season one adjudicators Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger.
"It's really honest and there's tons of drama that goes on backstage between the contestants. Which I think is going to be pretty fun to watch."
While some questioned what the vibe would be like between Lovato, 20, Spears, 30 and the two middle-aged music industry lifers, the "Give Your Heart a Break" singer said things have gone really well so far. "The chemistry's amazing," she said. "I have fun with every single person on the panel. We always joke back-and-forth. We feel really comfortable together and I really couldn't ask for a better panel to be sitting together with. They're just icons. All three of them."
The two-night "Factor" season premiere is one of the most anticipated launches of the fall, with audiences of Cowell's high-glitz show curious to see how it will fare against competition from the first fall go-round for rival singing competition "The Voice." Cowell lashed out at the "Voice" show runners last week when he found out that they had added a third episode on Wednesday this week to coincide with the "Factor" debut.
Cowell told TMZ that the move was "cynical, cold-hearted [and an] unprofessional" way of doing busine! ss, especially since the two programs had a "gentleman's agreement" to stick to their previously announced nights.
